What's Better VPS or Dedicated Uptime Figures?

What package offers a higher uptime figure: vps or dedicated?

Theoretically a dedicated server uptime should be higher.

There should be no difference between vps and dedicated server uptime in a stable hosting environment as reboot is made for the whole server, at least the vps and dedicated server uptime with my provider Serverpoint.com is the same.

I have made some research on the difference between uptime figures and think that the uptime figures that a host gives in the TOS refermostly to his shared/reseller deals, while for vps/dedicated servers the figures might be different. At least this is what I can conclude from Hostww.net plans, they offer both shared, reseller and dedicated/vps.

It doesn't matter. I think that it depends on the web hosting provider and do not depend on the kind of the web hosting. If you are in need of VPs or dedicated - go with right company and you will never have any troubles. glowhost.com, vpsland.com or solarVPs.com are the ones that can make you happy with uptime.

According to how things are laid out, I believe dedicated servers should experience more up time but from MY experience, it is a toss up depending on your host.

Hosts like Host Gator (which is absolutely horrid) have dedicated servers that are relatively reliable but cost a freaking arm and leg.

Then you have myhosting.com who I personally use for my business. Their VPS up times are better than Host Gator's dedicated servers even. Prices are less than half too.
